Fan Blade The blades on the radiator fan, which is normally mounted directly over the center of the radiator, on it's own frame. |
Fan Clutch The "hub" on many radiator fans so equipped, the clutch provides better fuel economy by only allowing the fan to spin when it's needed. Looks sort of like a mini-radiator mounted in the center of the fan. |
Fan Control Module Controls the operation of electrically operated cooling fans based on engine temperature. Most often found on or near the firewall under the hood. |

Fender (Front) The sheet metal assembly on either side of the vehicle, over and around the front wheels. It normally begins where the front door ends, and runs forward to the bumper and upward to the hood. |
Fender (Rear) The sheet metal assembly on either side of the vehicle, over and around the rear wheels. It normally begins where the back door ends, and runs rearward to the bumper and upward to the trunk lid. |
Flywheel (Automatic) A metal "wheel" sandwiched between the engine and transmission, it provides a mount point for the torque converter. It also provides the gear teeth that the starter engages to spin the engine. |

Flywheel (Manual) A metal wheel sandwiched between the engine and transmission, it provides "weight" so the engine will turn smoothly throughout the firing cycle. It also provides a mount for the ring gear, which the starter motor engages to spin the engine. |
Fog Light Lights normally mounted low in the front grill, or underneath it in the air dam, to provide directed light for low-visibility weather conditions. |
Frame (Complete) The skeleton the vehicle's entire structure rests on. If you look underneath the vehicle, you can see the frame rails running along either side, and the frame cross members running between the frame rails. |

Frame (Front) The portion of the vehicle's frame that the front suspension and steering components are attached. |
Front End Assembly (Nose) The front end or "face" of your vehicle. Basically everything forward of the front seam on the fender, including the hood, grill, front bumper assembly, etc. Does not include the windshield. Also called the front "clip". |
Fuel Door The fuel fill cap access door. The fuel door can either be opened manually, or electrically, or via a cable, from the driver's side of the car. |

Fuel Injection Pump Provides fuel to the injectors under pressure. The fuel injection pump can be totally mechanical and gear driven by the engine, or electrical, and controlled by one of the computer modules in the vehicle. |
Fuel Pump The primary fuel transfer pump, it sends fuel to the carburetor or to the injector pump, depending on the type of vehicle. It can be mounted in the fuel tank, underneath the vehicle, or mounted on the side of the block. |
Fuel Sending Unit The fuel tank level sensor, it sends the signal that your fuel gauge reads. Most often mounted on or just inside the fuel tank, it's actuated by the fuel float. |

Fuel Tank Fuel storage tank, normally underneath the rear or the vehicle behind the bumper. The fuel tank is an integral part of the fuel system, and quite often contains a fuel transfer pump, the fuel level sensor, fuel bypass lines, etc. |
|
Fuse Box Normally underneath
the dash, sometime underneath the hood, the Fuse box contains all
the fuses need for operation of the vehicle.
