Master Cylinder (Brake) This
is where the pressure for the brakes comes from. The brake pedal is
attached to the master cylinder. When you press the brake, the brake
pedal applies pressure to the master cylinder, which in turn applies
pressure to the brakes. It's mounted on the firewall, under the hood,
directly in front of the driver. |
Master Cylinder (Clutch) Applies
pressure from the clutch pedal to the clutch "slave" cylinder. It
looks much like the master cylinder, but is much smaller, and is located
on the firewall, under the hood, directly in front of the driver. |
Memory Control Module In
some high-end SUVs, luxury cars and performance cars, the seating,
mirrors, etc., and items with personal preference settings, the memory
control module retains those settings. So when driver "1" or drdiver
"2" hops into the car, all he or she has to do is hit a single button
and seats, mirrors, etc, return to that driver's favorite settings. |

Multi-Function Control
Module A general purpose control module in some vehicles
that handles many of the more mundane tasks in a single unit, ie,
turn signals, interior lighting, some radio functions, 4WD operation,
etc. It's pretty hard to be specific on what this control module's
specific duties, as they change quite a bit between vehicles, and
a great deal between manufacturers.
