Thanks for the reply. I planned to check points today. We'll see what happens. I did a complete tune up 2 years ago but have only put 3000 miles on the truck during that time. Wish me luck.

Was this running ok before and just started doing this?

Does this still have the points or has someone changed it over to HEI?
I'd recheck the spark for all cylinders and then see if the dist. is a little loose and may have slipped time.

If you're sure you have good spark and you're pouring gas into it, then check the exhaust egr flaps at the exhaust manifolds and be sure they're not stuck shut, blocking the exhaust.

Oh, and check the plug gap, on that old a model, it should be about .035 and maybe the gap is to wide, for an old point ignition, they can't wear much more than .005 and run very good.

Chevy pickup won't start

I have a 72 Chevy Cheyenne C10 custom. I am trying to start it but no go. It turns over fine and even sputters as if trying to start but will not grab. I am getting spark and am pouring gas directly into the carb to get it to fire but it won't take hold. Can someone help me diagnose this? It has a Quadrajet and a 350.

PS. It is firing on cylinder one only. The other plugs were wet with gas. I replaced the coil but no improvement.
