Yeah, for a while now I've been thinking of doing some heavy modifications to my car. I've got a 1990 Toyota Tercel. It just doesn't have alot of space in it, so I'm thinking of adding storage compartments in different places, like in the door panels and under the back seat. I'm even thinking of having a freezer type thing under the back seat but I'll have to see how feasible that really is.

Anyway, right now I'm wondering just how much space is really in my door panels. I know the glass of the door window has to slide through there when I roll my window down but I don't know how much room that will require - and I don't want to go cutting my car up just to find out. Does anyone know where I can find some detailed design drawings of a car like mine? Or would anyone actually know what it would require?

Also, although I haven't come up with any idea of how this will look after getting done, but if I did all this myself, would anyone have an idea of how much this would cost? I'm just looking for information before I consider digging into a project like this. Thanks in advance.

Behind the door panels??
There s not hardly enough room to get a hand in there to fix a window, so unless you're planning on storing bologna in there sideways, I'd scrap that idea.

Well, see it already has some pocket-type things in the door panels. But it doesn't quite work so well. About the only reasonable thing you could put there would be a few magazines, and even then they would always be hanging out, and later fall out of the door. And so I don't like that idea. I want to try something different. I just don't really know my options right now, so I'd like to look into what is possible.

Anyway, does anyone know where I could find some design drawings of the cab or something, just to see what the whole thing looks like?

There is basically no space behind the door panel, there is a bunch of supports for the door behind it, only tiny little holes...the only way you could get storage there is by building out of the door panel...but then you would use up some of your cabin space.
