Please help! I've got a 2000 Buick Century Custom 6-cyl. Motor says "3100 SFI" - it was run completely out of gas and now it won't start even though we've put over half a tank in. My dad is trying to fix it and he's sprayed starter fluid in the fuel pump and all, but it just doesn't seem to be getting fuel to the pump. He also can't seem to find the fuel filter. -- THANKS!

First thing I would do is check fuel pump operation. Check fuse. listen for fuel pump by putting ear half way down gas filler spout. Try and locate fuel pump relay and check for power at relay. After the fuel pump and circuitry is all checked out and ok then I have not the slightest clue.

GM cars have really bad fuel pump systems. I'm willing to bet that your fuel pump died. Sometimes the gauge will show a funny reading, also. You probably did not run it out of gas. I have changed many fuel pumps on these cars. Its located inside the gas tank. While changing pump, make sure you change the pickup sock.

Check for fuel pressure at the pressure fitting on the fuel rail.
It's a fuel pump killer for all models to be run out of gas.
If someone trys to keep starting them when there isn't any gas in the tank, the pumps will run dry and the vanes will overheat, so you may have a good sounding pump, but it may not pump any gas.
And when you said, he sprayed starter fluid into the pump?? did you mean into the intake to try to start it??
