| The engine light has been on in my 94' Grand Prix for several days now. I realized it when I was heading out somewhere, so I took the car back home. The car starts up just fine - without any hesitation. checked the wiring, but don't know what else could be wrong.

There is a code set in your computer. You will need to get the car scanned to find the problem. Then the code can be cleared and the light will go out.
